Around a hundred PKR members in Kedah announced their departure today, citing their disappointment towards party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Reports of PKR leaders and members planning mass resignations have been flooding the internet, with Sarawak PKR chairman Larry Sng admitting that there will be a number of resignations by grassroot leaders aligned with the party’s previous leadership.

Yesterday, Larry revealed that the resignations would primarily be from Mas Gading, Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Petra Jaya, Kanowit, Lanang, Lubok Antu and Bintulu.

In Selangor, things aren’t looking good either. Speculation is rife that 10 out of 19 PKR assemblymen in the state, aligned with former party deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, will make an exit in due time.

PETALING JAYA: Around a hundred PKR members in Kedah announced their departure today, citing their disappointment towards party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Star Online quoted Lunas assemblyman Azman Nasrudin as saying this constituted a second wave of departures over resentment towards Anwar.

According to Azman, back when Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was president, things were not so bad.

“We could still manage the party when Wan Azizah led us, although there was some difference of opinion,” he said, adding that the leadership of Wan Azizah brought the party to victory during GE14.

Azman himself left PKR on the 12th of May 2020 together with Sidam assemblyman Dr Robert Ling Kui Ee in what is perceived to be part of a federal-engineered coup to oust Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.

According to Azman, those who left the party today (Saturday) were Kedah divisional leaders.

Speculation is rife that 10 out of 19 PKR assemblymen in the state, aligned with former party deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, will make an exit in due time.

Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, however, dismissed such talk as works of fiction, saying he was certain the assemblymen were firm with their commitment towards Selangor Pakatan Harapan.

“Those who made up this story are daydreaming.

“I am certain our assemblymen are firm in their commitment to Selangor PH and the state government’s policies,” he was quoted as saying.
