TTF: Common sense has escaped PKR.
Perhaps, the party is so infused with greed and venality that it just stopped thinking straight. Dr. Michael Jeyakumar of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) is the guy who unseated Barisan Nasional heavyweight Dato’ Seri Sammy Vellu in 2008. Back then, Sammy was someone nobody would dream of opposing, much less dethroning, particularly if the person seeking to oppose him was green in the field of politics.
PKR should realise that it will come off the 14th general election (GE14) weaker than did in 2013. With its president currently sucking up to the man who jailed her husband, the party is likely to suffer a major vote-deficit given that its support base comprises largely of those who loathe Dr Mahathir Mohamad (READ HERE TO FIND OUT WHY).
So why disturb Jeyakumar, Saifuddin? Why not work with him?
It is one thing if Barisan were swoop down and offer the people of Sungai Siput a better solution. But it is another when those seeking to remove Jeyakumar suddenly appear from out of nowhere and offer the people the exact same thing he is offering them. Did it not occur to PKR that the rural folk in Sungai Siput are already swearing heaven and earth that Jeyakumar is Godsend?
Seriously, Saifuddin, where is your conscience?
Are you not proving to the people of Malaysia that your party is power crazy? Does the fact that it refuses to collaborate with PSM not speak volumes about its team-spirit? Can you not take a chapter off UMNO’s rulebook by emulating the party’s non-partisan stance when it comes to the wellbeing of the people?
If UMNO were as selfish as PKR, it would never have agreed to work with PAS for the sake of unity. It takes courage for leaders like Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak to go against established norms by reaching out to Dato’ Seri Abdul Hadi Awang in the spirit of togetherness and ukhuwah. If Najib and Hadi were to bicker like you guys, there would be no hope of ever uniting the Malays.
Sigh..such stupidity.

IPOH: A high-level team led by PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will meet Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s (PSM) Dr D. Michael Jeyakumar soon to discuss the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat.
A source from PKR said if the two-term MP was adamant in contesting the seat under the Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) banner, PKR would have no choice but to send in its own candidate to contest in the coming general election, which would end up hurting the opposition coalition.
“It is a catch-22 situation for us. We need to face our members if we give up the seat to PSM,” he said.
The source added that fellow Pakatan Harapan member DAP had previously expressed their interest to contest in the seat.
“But they decided against it and leave it to PKR to contest,” he said.
The source claimed that Dr Jeyakumar may face an uphill task in retaining the seat if he insisted on contesting under PSM banner.
“Voters are for established parties – either Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Harapan,” he added.
Indian and Chinese voters make up about 70 per cent of the Sungai Siput electorate while Malays form the remaining 30 per cent.
Dr Jeyakumar, a PSM central committee member, won the seat in 2008 when he defeated former MIC president Tun S. Samy Vellu.
He retained the seat in 2013 when he beat MIC deputy president Datuk Seri S. K. Devamany.
Besides Sungai Siput, PSM has said it will contest a total of 20 parliamentary and state seats.
