Muhyiddin said PN stood a good chance of winning big in Penang.
“There are reports that we (PN) will make inroads and deny the Penang government a two-thirds majority.
“However, that will not be our guide. We have our own target.
“Just like a survey done in Selangor, the support from Malays for PN is extraordinary. About 80 per cent of them support us in Selangor and the rest of the country.”
For Penang, he said, the expectation was to win 20 of the 40 seats in the state.
GEORGE TOWN: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has completed 99 per cent of seat discussions for the six state elections.
The six states are Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today said it would have a final meeting on June 22 to “seal the whole thing”.

“If you ask if everyone is satisfied, everyone will not be satisfied. Why? Because everyone wants to contest winnable seats.
“This is a typical negotiation process, but what is important in the end is that the camaraderie among the three parties (Bersatu, Pas and Gerakan) is excellent.
“It does not matter which party wins, we (PN) still win.
“So we have to go out in full force to ensure our victory,” he said at the launch of the Penang PN Convention here.
Stressing that the state elections were an uphill battle, Muhyiddin said PN stood a good chance of winning big in Penang.
“There are reports that we (PN) will make inroads and deny the Penang government a two-thirds majority.
“However, that will not be our guide. We have our own target.
“Just like a survey done in Selangor, the support from Malays for PN is extraordinary. About 80 per cent of them support us in Selangor and the rest of the country.
“I believe that they will continue to support us these state elections due to the leadership and economic crises, as well as other issues that make them lose hope in the unity government.”
For Penang, he said, the expectation was to win 20 of the 40 seats in the state.
“This means we have one per cent left to ensure our victory. We are taking this as a challenge.
“Although winning in the six states will not have any impact at the federal level, it will be easier for us to take control at the federal level when the right time comes.”
