The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah has come out to state that she disagreed with the protest at University of Malaya (UM) by activist Wong Yan Ke.
Wong’s actions raise the question if he was incentivised by leaders of a political party to cast negative light on the Kongress Maruah Melayu (Malay Diginity Congress) by voicing dissatisfaction against UM vice-chancellor Datuk Abdul Rahim Hashim.
It is entirely possible that Wong contrived the whole drama to gain mileage so that the matter can be brought to national proportions to eclipse the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) issue.
Being a former academician, I (RJ Rithaudeen) am of the opinion that Wong must be disciplined by the university and should not be supported by the academics’ union as his disruptive behaviour defamed the university.
PETALING JAYA: The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah has come out to state that she disagreed with the protest at University of Malaya (UM) by activist Wong Yan Ke.
Criticised for retweeting a post which certain factions are deliberately and irresponsibly playing up as “an attack on the ethnic Chinese,” the Raja Permaisuri said she was neither racist nor political and only shared the post because she disagreed with the protest.
TTF has viewed the post, and there was absolutely nothing racist, derogatory or political about it.
“Maybe everyone misunderstood. I retweeted because I disagreed that the act was taken in a formal event. It was improper and did not respect the ceremony.
“I’m not racist nor political. He should not have done it at a convocation… showing disrespect! Rather unbecoming!” Tunku Azizah tweeted from her @cheminahsayang account.

Yesterday, TTF posted an article by RJ Rithaudeen that read:
Wong’s actions raise the question if he was incentivised by leaders of a political party to cast negative light on the Kongress Maruah Melayu (Malay Diginity Congress) by voicing dissatisfaction against UM vice-chancellor Datuk Abdul Rahim Hashim.
It is an open secret that both Lim Kit Siang and the DAP were against the congress despite the DAP being member of the ruling Pakatan Harapan with ministers from the party sharing a stage with Mahathir in Cabinet.
The choice of venue, i.e., inside the convocation hall, jibes badly with Wong’s claim that the VC had ignored him all this while and that the convocation was an avenue to be heard.
If indeed the intent was to be heard, Wong could easily have held the demonstration outside the convocation hall where he would have garnered attention without disrupting the ceremony.
It is entirely possible that Wong contrived the whole drama to gain mileage so that the matter can be brought to national proportions to eclipse the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) issue.
Being a former academician, I am of the opinion that Wong must be disciplined by the university and should not be supported by the academics’ union as his disruptive behaviour defamed the university.
