I refer to a statement issued by Penang Deputy Chief Minister P Ramasamy, dated the 16th of April 2022, published by Free Malaysia Today (hereinafter referred to as “the FMT statement”)
In the statement (CLICK HERE), Ramasamy stated the following:
“But what about the earlier 22 years when he was the prime minister? Didn’t his pro-Malay policies encourage and condone corruption among the Umno elite in the name of addressing the economic grievances of the Malays?
“Didn’t his close cronies – both Malays and non-Malays – benefit from government policies and economic handouts?
“If this is not corruption, what is corruption then?”
Ramasamy added;
“What about his family members? Did they slog their way up to attain social and economic status, or did they benefit due to family connections?
“Isn’t that corruption?”
Ramasamy was referring to PEJUANG chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and this is clearly established in the FMT statement.
I hereby demand that Ramasamy furnishes Free Malaysia Today with concrete proof, for the purpose of publication, to establish;
1. the names of those who benefitted from Mahathir’s so called “pro-Malay policies,” and how this constitutes as corruption on anyone’s part.
2. that Mahathir’s family members benefitted through corruption.
If Ramasamy cannot furnish said proof and if the FMT statement was merely to imply corruption and/or wrongdoing, Ramasamy must issue an apology via Free Malaysia Today to Mahathir and all Malaysians, for falsely implying that Mahathir’s policies encouraged and condoned corruption.
Ramasamy has 48 hours to comply and may contact me to request further details of proofs expected of him, failing which a police report will be lodged at a yet-to-be-determined date.
Without prejudice,
Raggie Jessy Rithaudeen
