The youth these days are far more liberal and willing to accommodate LGBT practices and what have you even if they’re Muslims.
Being almost completely dependent on the social media and the internet, they will likely conform to a ‘silent majority’ that isn’t interested in rolling on the streets but have very concise ideas as to who resonates most with them.
While I’m completely against the LGBT lifestyle, the more Barisan Nasional politicians attack the community with their signature attitudes, the higher the likelihood they end up putting off the youth.
And the LGBT phenomenon is just one of the many issues BN politicians are complete suckers at addressing tactfully, which explains why the youth isn’t exactly fascinated with the idea of having UMNO or PAS politicians around much longer.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today that the young are now well informed, and as such, need to be allowed active involvement in politics.
According to him, unlike the older generation, youngsters today not only have wider access to information but are also more open-minded.
“In this era, they grow up (mature) earlier. When I was young, at the age of 20, I didn’t go anywhere, I just stayed in Alor Star.
“I was not aware of what’s happening around me. Not many news, videos and reports on television.
“But now, information is coming in such large numbers. The youngsters, they have access to information from books, movies and websites, hence they are well informed.
“They also get to travel overseas, therefore they are more open-minded and become adults early.
“Therefore, we decided to let them vote and become candidates in the elections at the age of 18,” he told a press conference in Parliament today.
Actually, the Prime Minister is spot on.
I have repeatedly said in the past that the DAP-led fake news campaign would one day blow up on Lim Kit Siang’s face.
This is because the cyber-trooper team he nurtured prior to the 14thgeneral election gave rise to a volunteer-cyber-generation (VCG) that isn’t on his payroll.
So, from having 1,000 to 2,000 freaks who will say anything he tells them to, the DAP now has to contend with millions of internet-savvy netizens who are wise enough to distinguish right from wrong, thanks to the abundance of information online.
The VCG has gotten the hang of cyber trooping and is all over the social media rubbishing fake claims made by the DAP’s cyber team.
This has led to a rare kind of “wisdom pool” online that has successfully countered the advent of fake news and has inadvertently educated readers on the need to be vigilant when digesting bits of information.
Thanks to the VCG, the internet-savvy and social-media-dependent youth are entering the political arena with eyes wide open, a million times wiser than the cyber-team that helped Kit Siang and gang bring the previous Barisan Nasional government down.
And mind you, the youth these days are far more liberal and willing to accommodate LGBT practices even if they’re Muslims or come from religiously inclined households.
Being almost completely dependent on the social media and the internet, they will likely conform to a ‘silent majority’ that isn’t interested in rolling on the streets but have very concise ideas as to which politicians resonate with them most.
While I’m completely against the LGBT lifestyle, the more Barisan Nasional politicians attack members of the community with their signature attitudes, the higher the likelihood that they end up putting off the youth.
The LGBT phenomenon is just one of the many issues BN politicians are complete suckers at addressing tactfully, which explains why the youth isn’t entirely fascinated by the idea of having UMNO or PAS politicians around much longer.
The one thing BN and PAS politicians fail miserably at grasping is the idea, that before you can hope for someone to listen to you, you need to lure that someone first to your side of the isle before you can even hope to reason with him (or her).
But this simple trick is something that seems to completely escape BN politicians, which explains why the majority of them haven’t a cat in hell’s chance of winning the 15thgeneral election.
Given that the youth will account for almost 50 per cent of the voting population, day by day, BN is looking more and more like an ancient dinosaur that no longer resonates with the bulk of society.
