The High Court today heard how Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was paid RM5 million while her aide – who is now a prosecution witness testifying against her, received RM500,000 for helping a company secure a RM1.25 billion diesel solar hybrid project.
It was also revealed that the government had paid the Sarawak-based company, Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd, RM63 million in July 2017 to start the project but nothing had been done since then.
Meanwhile, during cross examination by Rosmah’s lawyer Datuk Akberdin Abdul kader, Rayyan said it was Rizal who suggested that Jepak Holdings make the 10 to 15 per cent payment to Rosmah, terming it as a political donation.
“Actually it is a commission but it is not nice to say that…that is why he (Rizal) called it political donation,” he said.
KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court today heard how Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was paid RM5 million while her aide – who is now a prosecution witness testifying against her, received RM500,000 for helping a company secure a RM1.25 billion diesel solar hybrid project.
It was also revealed that the government had paid the Sarawak-based company, Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd, RM63 million in July 2017 to start the project but nothing had been done since then.
All this was laid bare by none other than a partner in Jepak Holdings, Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah, who was testifying in the trial as the 16th prosecution witness.
Rayyan had everyone in the courtroom listening intently as he detailed how all the monetary payments were made to Rosmah who is the wife of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, and her former aide, Datuk Rizal Mansor.
The 41-year old, who admitted receiving RM1 million himself working as a consultant in the project, said he had been promised a further RM10 million by Jepak Holdings owner cum managing director Saidi Abang Samsudin but it had yet to be fulfilled.
Rayyan said Saidi told him in December 2016 that Rosmah had been paid RM5 million through Rizal for her role in helping Jepak Holdings secure the project to supply solar hybrid energy to 369 schools in Sarawak.
“Saidi told me he gave the money to Rosmah through Rizal.
“On the same day Saidi asked me to accompany him to Rizal’s house in Vista Kirana in Segambut where RM500,000 cash was given to Rizal for his role in helping Jepak Holdings.”
Rayyan said he was also informed by Saidi through a Whatsapp message in July 2017 that the government had made its first payment of RM63 million for Jepak Holdings to start the project.
In his testimony yesterday, Rayyan revealed that Rosmah had demanded for a 15 per cent cut or RM187.5 million to help Jepak Holdings secure the project.
He testified that Rizal, who is now under the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) witness protection programme, had also demanded RM25 million for himself.
He had made arrangements for the company to pay him the money over a period of five years in instalments of RM5 million per year.
Rayyan testified that he and Saidi made another trip to Rosmah’s house at Jalan Langgak Duta here on Sept 7, 2017 where two sling bags filled with cash were dropped off in the living room.
“Rosmah came to the living room soon after and Saidi told her more money would be given once the company received progress payments from the government.
“Rosmah just said okaylah…Saidi later told me that there was RM1.5 million cash in the two bags.
“I know that the government has paid RM63 million to Jepak Holdings but until today nothing has been done to start the project,” he said.
Rizal was a former special officer to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and also formerly a special aide to Rosmah.
He was initially jointly charged with Rosmah in the corruption case but the prosecution withdrew charges against him in January before making him a key witness in the case.
Rizal was previously slapped with four charges of seeking and receiving bribes for himself and Rosmah amounting to RM5.5 million.
Rosmah has been charged with two counts of soliciting RM187.5 million and receiving RM1.5 million over the same project.
In April 2019, she was slapped with a new charge of receiving an additional RM5 million in kickbacks.
The trial before High Court Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan continues.
