Pertubuhan Kinabalu Progresif Bersatu (UPKO) has sacked its vice-president, Datuk Abidin Madingkir. The decision was made by Upko’s Supreme Council during a meeting on Thursday night.

“(It was) found that Abidin was involved in former Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman’s attempt to topple Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s Warisan-Upko-PH state government,” said a statement from the Sabah-based party.

State assemblymen from Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) who back Musa’s bid are Datuk Hamisah Samad (Tanjung Batu), Datuk Osman Jamal (Balung), Datuk Bolkiah Ismail (Pitas), Datuk Masiung Banah (Kuamut) and Datuk Muis Picho (Sebatik).

The tussle for the state government eventually saw Shafie dissolving the 15th State Assembly to pave the way for the 16th state election which must be held in the next 60 days.
