KUCHING: Bintulu Member of Parliament Dato Sri Tiong King Sing did not attend the swearing-in ceremony at Istana Melawati yesterday where he was to take his oath of office as the National Unity Deputy Minister.
According to a news report, Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) secretary-general Nelson Balang Rining said Tiong ought to have been given the post of minister given that he’s a senior MP.
Nelson reasoned that being the president of PDP “qualifies Tiong to be a full minister” going by the concept of power sharing.
PDP is one of four parties in Gabungan Parti Sarawak which helped Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin secure the post of Prime Minister during the political xx that gripped the nation two weeks ago.
The new premier yesterday announced the appointment of four full ministers and seven deputy ministers from Sarawak.
Instead of appointing a deputy prime minister, Muhyiddin had appointed four senior ministers including Petra Jaya MP Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, who is the Works Minister.
