Selangor state Executive Councillor Teng Chang Kim today lamented that the federal government was unprofessional in its implementation of a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) for Klang.

In a Facebook posting, Teng said the announcement of the CMCO was made without prior consultation with the Selangor state government and without particulars of areas that would be affected.

He described the federal government’s actions as incompetent and unprofessional despite only recently gaining experience from the implementation of a Movement Control Order (MCO).

Yesterday, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the imposition of a CMCO in Sandakan, Papar and Tuaran, Sabah as well as Klang beginning the 9th of October to check the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the areas, dscribed as “red zones.”

PETALING JAYA: Selangor state Executive Councillor Teng Chang Kim today lamented that the federal government was unprofessional in its implementation of a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) for Klang.

In a Facebook posting, Teng said the announcement of the CMCO was made without prior consultation with the Selangor state government and without particulars of areas that would be affected.

“The minister making the announcement did not seem to know that District of Klang and Municipal Council of Klang have different local jurisdictions.

“Quite a wide area of City Council of Shah Alam is also under the District of Klang.

“The state government had acted swiftly when receiving the news about the CMCO on Klang yesterday evening by calling for a state-level National Security Council today to work on the details of the CMCO.

“However, in the late evening yesterday, the Prime Minister called for the National Security Council meeting today at 11 am requiring the presence of all the Menteri Besar and Chief Ministers.

“This has disrupted the state government plan to convene the state-level NSC meeting to iron out all foreseeable problems consequential to the CMCO,” Teng said.
