There is a major undercurrent sweeping Malaysian politics amidst the serenity on the surface, and the clearest sign of it is the near six-hour long Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) meeting that just drew close.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and other political leaders are said to have have flown in from Sabah and Sarawak to Putrajaya amid speculation that the Pakatan Harapan led government could fall tonight, possibly even tomorrow.

UMNO has just begun what looks to be an emergency meeting with key party leaders and is said to be holding another meeting later today with representatives from PAS.

Speculation is rife that a new leadership could be sworn in to lead the Government of Malaysia later today or early tomorrow morning, though I have yet to receive such an indication from any of my sources.

PETALING JAYA: There is a major undercurrent sweeping Malaysian politics amidst the serenity on the surface, and the clearest sign of it is the near six-hour long Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) meeting that just drew close.

I am made to understand that the meeting was to deliberate the “next course of action” following the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council meeting last Friday.

The Friday meeting saw a seemingly jubilant and somewhat irritated-looking Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad telling a press conference that Pakatan leaders were ready to do his bidding.

He made it clear that he was in charge and that he could decide whether or not he wanted to vacate his premiership post.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and other political leaders are said to have flown in from Sabah and Sarawak to Putrajaya amid speculation that the Pakatan Harapan led government could fall tonight, possibly even tomorrow.

As far as East Malaysia is concerned, both WARISAN and GPS have since pledged full support for Mahathir’s leadership of a new federal government.
