“It is imperative that GTA names Mahathir as its sole Prime Minister candidate before deciding if it wants to work with PN”

Previously, Pakatan Harapan (PH) had not named its Prime Minister candidate, the impression being that the coalition did not plan to do so until after the 15th general election (GE15).
But this is no longer the case.
Yesterday, PH named Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as its sole candidate, meaning, the public now wants to know who Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) plans to pitch for the role.

Both GTA and PH are up against Barisan Nasional (BN), and even BN has named Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as its Prime Minister candidate.
Perikatan Nasional (PN) is also up against BN, although, rumour has it that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin are talking collaboration.
Either way, GE15 will be reduced to a competition between Prime Minister candidates, the minimum number being three (should GTA and PN collaborate) and the maximum being four (should GTA and PN decide to stay apart).
Should GTA refuse to name its Prime Minister candidate, Mahathir would lose out to Muhyiddin.
This is because GE15 will be reduced to a competition between one heavyweight (Muhyiddin) and two lesser candidates – one being Ismail Sabri, seen by many to be a stooge of the court cluster, and another being Anwar, a man who cannot even keep his own party together.
Still, without Mahathir in the spotlight, Muhyiddin’s appeal would be greatly reduced, due to his many blunders and failures as Prime Minister.
It is therefore imperative that GTA names Mahathir as its sole Prime Minister candidate even before deciding if it wants to work with PN.
No more “I am willing to be Prime Minister again,” that will not work.
People want to know if Mahathir is serious, so announce his candidature as soon as possible.
GE15 will then be all about Mahathir and Muhyiddin, irrespective if the duo decides to work together or otherwise.
Anwar and Ismail Sabri will then fade under Mahathir and Muhyiddin’s shadows, and when you think about it, UMNO was naive to even think of pitting Ismail Sabri against Mahathir.
Seriously, did Zahid actually think Muhyiddin would enter the GE15 arena without Mahathir?
