MIC vice-president Datuk C. Sivarraajh lodged four reports at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) headquarters here today over alleged election misconduct by DAP while campaigning for the upcoming Cameron Highlands by-election.
Sivarraajh pointed out that in his case judgement, it was stated that any gift offered to constituents – even petrol or cigarette money – is tantamount to vote-buying, and that the DAP admitted to paying petrol money (dubbed “petrol reimbursements”) to 60 Orang Asli volunteers.
“I accept… what happened to me. (Now), I just want the MACC to probe this case as best as they possibly can,” he added.
PUTRAJAYA: MIC vice-president Datuk C. Sivarraajh lodged four reports at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) headquarters here today over alleged election misconduct by DAP while campaigning for the upcoming Cameron Highlands by-election.
The former Cameron Highlands MP said he wants the graft buster to probe incidents of money politics, corruption and other alleged infractions, in accordance with the law.
“The evidence is there and they have gone viral. There is no need for me to elaborate on them.
“I am lodging this report (with the MACC) not as an act of revenge, but as justice for myself, because I (am a) victim of an election petition,” Sivarraajh told reporters when met at the MACC this afternoon.
The MIC vice president added that as a “victim” of allegations of impropriety “based on hearsay”, which caused him to lose his seat, thus necessitating the by-election, it is only right for him to demand that justice be done in this instance.
He added that he believes the MACC will look into the case and conduct an investigation in a professional and credible manner.
Sivarraajh said four reports were lodged with the MACC today, including on pictures which have gone viral on social media, purportedly showing a DAP member paying petrol money to volunteers.
“Other evidence (backing the reports) include viral pictures of grass cutter machines given to two Orang Asli; money paid to members of the Orang Asli; and threats issued against the Tok Batin by a PKR senator,” he added.
