KUALA LUMPUR: The appointment of Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob as acting chairman of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) will allow the company to reorient its focus on developing the palm oil industry, says Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong.
The Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister said FGV, as the biggest plantation company in Malaysia, had to take the lead in promoting palm oil.
“As the company with the most land for palm oil plantations, its performance will affect the industry as a whole.
“I am happy this issue is resolved and they can now focus on increasing its market share for palm oil,” he told a press conference on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced Sulaiman’s appointment on Monday.
Sulaiman, who already sits on the FGV board as a non-executive director, replaced Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, who will now oversee the Public Land Transport Commission (SPAD).
