KUALA LUMPUR: Sungai Siput MP Kesavan Subramaniam has lodged a police report on a woman who claimed to be his former aide and accused him of sexual harassment.

The MP denied the accusation, saying that the woman, whose name remains anonymous, wanted to interfere with his relationship with his wife and family by deceiving him of her intentions.

Kesavan said the woman had volunteered to help him with his campaign to protest against the transfer of phantom voters into the state constituency of Hutan Melintang in 2017.

“I accepted her offer with open arms because she volunteered to assist me with my campaign, just like other volunteers for other parties,” he said.

The woman then expressed her desire to help Kesavan voluntarily after GE14, when he became the MP of Sungai Siput despite the fact that she has a family and lives in Puchong.

Since then, the woman started to intervene in MP’s household matters, make numerous phone calls to the MP and his wife, as well as spread bad rumours about his wife to jeopardise their marriage.

She also started admitting to being the personal assistant to the MP and made calls and gave orders to government officials on behalf of the MP.

Kesavan said he began to feel uncomfortable and unhappy with the behaviour of the woman when she changed from being a good friend to a person who started developing feelings towards him.

“If the accusations of sexual harassment were even true, why would she still contact me more than ten times a day earlier this month? She also contacted my wife a few weeks ago,” said the MP, adding that after seeking advice from PKR president Rafizi Ramli on the matter, he lodged a report earlier this month.

The issue is currently still being investigated.

Earlier, New Straits Times reported that a woman had lodged a police report of sexual harassment against a Member of Parliament in Perak.

The reports also said the former aide claimed that the MP had shown her Kamasutra book and pornographic pictures.
