PETALING JAYA: A scuffle that ensued following an accident at the North South Expressway near Bangi yesterday resulted in the death of Syed Muhammad Danial Syed, aged 29.
It was alleged that the car Syed was driving almost collided with another driven by a Yew Wei Liang, aged 41, right after the duo exited the Bangi toll plaza.
Syed was said to be en route to Seremban when the incident occurred at km 239 of the expressway.
According to one version, Yew deliberately ran over Syed with his car in a fit of rage for reasons that have yet to be established.
Another version has it that Syed proceeded to the bonet of his car and took out a baseball bat which he then used to smash the front of Yew’s car.
In this version, it is said that a panick striken Yew stepped on the accelerator paddle and ran over Syed who was at the front of his car.
There are even those who insist that it was Yew who wielded the baseball bat, not Syed Muhammad.
A well placed source claims that the case was filed under section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death sentence or imprisonment for life for committing murder.
Earlier today, Syed’s widow, Qistina Ayu Mohd Rozhan, 28 was seen at the Serdang Hospital forensic Department waiting for the remains of Syed as specialists conducted a post mortem to establish the cause of death.

A report by the NST read:
Qistina Ayu refused to be interviewed, when approached by members of the media.
Her father, Mohd Rozhan Ramlee, 57, who was present at the department, pledged to help in taking care of his granddaughter, Sharifah Dian.
“Allahuakbar, I will help to take care of my granddaughter. I didn’t expect we will lose him in an accident.
“My son-in-law was an obedient son. He will take his wife and daughter to visit his mother in Shah Alam every weekend. They were supposed to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha there,” he said when met at the mortuary today.
Rozhan learnt of the tragic news from his youngest child, Zafri Amir, 19, who received information from his friend who happened to pass by the accident scene about 2pm yesterday.
“Upon learning the news, my daughter and I rushed to scene from our house in Bukit Mahkota near Bangi.
“Zafri who arrived at the scene earlier took his brother-in-law to a nearby clinic with the assistance of members of the public. He (the victim) was later taken to Nilai Medical Centre because the clinic was closed.”
He thought Syed Muhammad Danial only sustained light injuries judging the damage to the car.
“Only the back of the car was dented. We thought he only sustained light injuries. However, he was pronounced dead at Nilai Medical Centre due to severe head injuries,” he said.
Zafri said his brother-in-law was found lying semi-conscious on the road side near the scene of the accident.
“There were bruises on his head and abdomen. He was semi-conscious when taken to to the clinic.
“He lost consciousness after arriving at the Nilai Medical Centre before being taken to the emergency unit where he was pronounced dead.
