Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin gone missing like Mahathir’s billions!

The Malaysian Observer

It is strange how Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who is supposed to be high up in the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysian (PPBM) and DAP-led Pakatan Harapan pecking order has virtually vanished; just like those Billions that Tun Mahathir is fond of talking about.

Muhyiddin Yassin seems to continually find himself disengaged from what is taking place.  By way of example; during the latter period of his time as deputy Prime Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin would refer to the local newspapers to find out the latest news.

When one looks back at his tenure as deputy Prime Minister; Muhyiddin Yassin’s joining up with Tun Mahathir served in removing dead weight from UMNO; now he has become Mahathir’s.

When Tun Mahathir made Muhyiddin Yassin the PPBM President, it would have been the perfect opportunity for him to reinvent himself.  It could have been a showcase for him as President to take the fledgling political party and grow to revival UMNO; the party that he was removed from.  But Muhyiddin failed at the task; he still could not serve as the Malay magnet that even Lim Kit Siang hoped he could be.

One would think that as a former deputy Prime Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin would at the very least be able to be a magnet to get Tun Mahathir those million signatures the latter wanted.  However doing that time of need Muhyiddin Yassin was MIA (Missing in Action).

So now Muhyiddin is deputy President in the DAP-led Pakatan leadership structure. As deputy President it seemed that his first task was to do what he has done while serving as deputy Prime Minister and President of PPBM; nothing of note.

It takes real talent or the complete absence of it to be a total non-factor when placed in a position or positions that would bring out the best in most people.

Or maybe Muhyiddin Yassin is serving his task; to be yet another Muslim face that Lim Kit Siang can parade around in his attempt to catch the Malay vote.  Other than that, Muhyiddin Yassin does not seem to have any relevancy on today’s political scene.

In fact, it was only after seeing a photo of the former deputy Prime Minister that I thought of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s lack of presence on the political stage.

Or perhaps it is not strange if one considers that he is doing what he always does; disappears just like all those Billions that Tun Mahathir is so fond of talking about!
