PUCHONG: A collaboration between PAS and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia is not on the cards, although the Islamist party’s leadership have expressed confidence in Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s leadership.
Dr Mahathir stressed that they had not discussed the possibility of collaboration with PAS when its president Datuk Abdul Hadi Awang, secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan and Terengganu Mentri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar met him recently.
TTF: A truth of omission is without a doubt a complete lie.
What Mahathir failed to mention, is that his strategists have been in active discussions with people from PAS for some time now regarding the Islamic party’s position on Pakatan.
The discussions bought forth an open-ended agreement between 16 of the 18 PAS MPs who agreed to support Dr Mahathir and Pakatan at the Federal level.
The remaining two MPs are not too keen to work with Mahathir but are nonetheless agreeable to toeing the line.
Details of meetings that took place can and will be made public should the Prime Minister persist with all these idiotic rants.
“They only said they would not support Umno in this (Semenyih) by-election, because Umno was not fighting against DAP.
TTF: PAS never said this.
I dare Mahathir to swear upon the Qu’ran that PAS said this.
“But they did not say they would support the Pakatan Harapan candidate from Bersatu,” he told newsmen after launching the National Community Policy here on Sunday (Feb 17).
“I did not receive any letter signed by Hadi and Samsuri.
“I only have one letter,” he said, saying they would eventually submit a written endorsement.
TTF: This is what you call splitting hairs.
Not supporting PPBM in Semenyih is not tantamount to going against PPBM at Federal level.
In any event, PAS is committed only to supporting Mahathir, not PPBM.
The party has consistently put Islam and the Malay-Muslim struggle above everything else and realises, that it serves no purpose to go against Mahathir given that he is Prime Minister.
Put differently, Hadi is committed to preventing schisms between the Malay-Muslims and recognises the need to work with Mahathir and not against him.
This commitment, however, is focused only at Federal level and not state, meaning, PAS is free to support UMNO for the Semenyih by-election even if the contest does not involve the DAP.

Dr Mahathir said they needed to reach an agreement to ensure both sides have representation in village committees, for example.
“In Kelantan and Terengganu, Pakatan Harapan do not have representatives in village committees.
“In states controlled by Pakatan, PAS wants representation in various bodies and local planning,” he said.
TTF: This is blackmail.
Mahathir is sending signals to Hadi, that should he want PAS representation in Pakatan controlled states and the return of oil royalty to Terengganu, he must support PPBM and not UMNO in Semenyih.
