Trump’s first-class treatment for Najib proves opposition wrong

The issue of the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is actually a malicious fabrication made by Dr Mahathir and the opposition against Najib and the Malaysian government

JOHOR BARU: The first-class treatment that United States President Donald Trump gave to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during their meeting in Washington DC is proof that the opposition leaders’ claims that the Prime Minister’s image has been tarnished internationally are wrong.

Pasir Gudang Umno Youth chief Azman Jaafar said those are well verse in body language could see that Trump’s treatment towards Najib showed the confidence of a world leader had for Najib.

“Trump’s body language clearly shows that the warmth between the two leaders is not something that is made up but is something that is sincere and full of hope and confidence,” said Azman in a statement today.

He said Singaporean media have also published positive reports about Najib’s meeting with Trump, saying that Najib had even beat Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in meeting with the US president.

“They had also aired a speech by Trump about the big role Najib and the Malaysian government have played in the fight against terrorism in Southeast Asia.

“The US media have also been very professional in reporting how Malaysia is a country that can be trusted for future investments and more clearly, that Malaysia is not a failed and bankrupt state as claimed by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Lim Kit Siang and other opposition leaders,” said Azman.

He said the success of Najib’s administration in securing large scale investments from Saudi Arabia, China, India and France showed that the prime minister’s skill in political diplomacy is something that the country and its people should be proud off.

“Only during Najib’s administration have a US president came to Malaysia twice and for the first time in the country’s history, a prime minister from a small country has been personally invited by the US president to the White House.

“This clearly shows that Najib’s leadership style is approved and respected by bigger nations,” said Azman.

Singaporean media also reported on Malaysia’s sustainable economy and how Malaysia is interested in buying 20 aeroplanes from Boeing over the next five years.

“My question is, are these signs that Malaysia is a failed state that would soon become bankrupt? Only those who are envious, jealous and ignorant would refuse to accept the fact that Najib’s administration is the best.

“During Dr Mahathir’s administration, when the world was facing economic slowdown and crisis, Malaysia’s economy shrank with decreasing investments and the stock market fell below the 500 points level.

“It is clearly different in Najib’s time because the Malaysian economy is growing and investments are pouring in. Up to July this year, Malaysia’s trade have reached RM1 trillion,” said Azman.

He said what is clear now is that the issue of the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is actually a malicious fabrication made by Dr Mahathir and the opposition against Najib and the Malaysian government.

“To Lim, who called Trump an idiot, does this mean that Prime Minister Lee, who would be meeting Trump next month, is also an idiot? Only an idiot like Lim would meet with another idiot,” said Azman.

He said it is common knowledge that it is not easy for a leader to meet with the US president, so Najib’s success in getting an invitation from President Trump is a proud achievement for Malaysia.

“This matter reminded me of something I read in the book ‘Bukan Kerana Pangkat: Memoir Tun Dr Ismail’ where he wrote about how difficult it was for the government at the time to meet and convince the US government and to apply for assistance and get US to invest in Malaysia.

“From what I understand, if a Malaysian government succeeded in meeting and getting the support from the US leadership, the world, especially the larger nations, would recognise Malaysia and investors would be more confident to invest in Malaysia.

“To the prime minister, we are proud of your success and congratulations. You made us very proud. To Mahathir, Lim and other opposition leaders, eat your hearts out. Malaysia is a secure country and does not need to be saved,” said Azman.
