THE THIRD FORCE
Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor pleaded not guilty today to 17 charges of laundering funds amounting to some RM7 million or so at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
Wife of former Malaysian premier Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak, who also made an appearance at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, Rosmah was allowed to post RM2 million as security deposit before being ordered by the court to surrender her passport.
In setting the bail, Judge Azura Alwi said that the request by lead prosecutor Dato’ Seri Gopal Sri Ram for the sum to be fixed at RM10mil was too excessive and that the amount suggested by the defence was too low.
TTF is made to understand that Rosmah’s defence counsel protested the RM10 million sum on grounds that it made no sense as the amount she was alleged to have laundered was far lower.
Rosmah was placed under arrest by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday on counts of having committed offences under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, Anti-Terrorism Financing Act and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLA) 2001.
On the 26th of September 2018 (READ HERE), TTF was already informed by someone from camp Mahathir that she would be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on the 4th of October 2018.
According to the source, the date was ‘fixed’ by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who, on the 26th of September 2018, issued a ‘directive’ to someone in the MACC not to arrest her while she was there being questioned over allegations of her having laundered funds.
TTF was made to understand that she was due to face some 40 – 50 charges.
But hours ago, it was brought to our attention that a ‘new’ directive was given to the MACC for the charges, totalling some 52, to be read in stages just to prevent members of public from accusing the Government of Malaysia (GoM) of waging a vendetta.
What this means, is that we can expect Rosmah to be charged again anytime within the next one or two weeks and thereafter, again, within the same timeframe.
The manner in which these charges are being levelled reeks of a high-level conspiracy and seems to trace all the way to the highest of rungs within the Corridors of Power.
TTF condemns the actions of both the MACC and Mahathir in shaming the wife of a man, who not only led this country for nine years, but paved the way for its gradual transformation into a regional economic hub.
TTF also condemns the GoM and Mahathir for allowing the MACC under Dato’ Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull to trigger such actions against Najib and Rosmah.
Not only is there a criminal report lodged against Shukri (below) sitting somewhere collecting dust, it strikes us as weird that both the MACC and the police have yet to act on him but were swift with action against the former first coupe.
