#TTFCovid19: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reportedly been moved to intensive care after his coronavirus symptoms “worsened.”

A spokesperson from Downing Street said Mr Johnson has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputise “where necessary.”

Last night, millions of United Kingdom citizens tuned in to watch a special address byQueen Elizabeth II, the fifth in her 68 years as monarch.

Minutes later, the country found out that those on the National Health Service (NHS) front line – whose efforts to battle Covid-19 was recognised and appreciated by the Queen – were also caring for Mr Johnson, who had then just been admitted.

The prime minister’s office did not deny that Johnson had been given oxygen, a medical intervention that normally suggests serious illness.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reportedly been moved to intensive care after his coronavirus symptoms “worsened.”

A spokesperson from Downing Street said Mr Johnson has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputise “where necessary.”

Mr Johnson, 55, was admitted to St Thomas’ Hospital in London with “persistent symptoms” on Sunday.

The spokesperson said he was moved on the advice of his medical team and is receiving “excellent care.”

“Since Sunday evening, the prime minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.

“Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.

“The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication,” a statement read.

Born in New York to an upper-middle-class family, the Conservative Johnson became known as a politician, writer, and later, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Minutes later, the country found out that those on the National Health Service (NHS) front line – whose efforts to battle Covid-19 was recognised and appreciated by the Queen – were also caring for Mr Johnson who had then just been admitted.

Some reports indicate that Mr Johnson’s condition deteriorated fast, with government officials that previously labelled his symptoms “mild” now dropping the word from official statements.

The prime minister’s office did not deny that Johnson had been given oxygen, a medical intervention that normally suggests serious illness.

In 1953, the late Sir Winston Leonard SpencerChurchill suffered a stroke that the British government kept hidden from public even though he was then the sitting prime minister.

Churchill went on to serve for another two years before anyone found out, giving rise to criticism that Downing Street was anything but transparent where it concerned government officers and ministers.
