#TTFCovid19: The Government of Malaysia (GoM) has allowed nine sectors previously prohibited from conducting business under the Movement Control Order (MCO) to resume operations.
These include the aerospace, automotive, machine, equipment sectors and a host of service based industries, including those providing hardware, electronic, electrical, barber, laundry and eyecare services.
Meanwhile, senior minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the decision to allow these industries to operate was based on findings from studies that indicate that the spread of Covid-19 would also have detrimental effects on the economy and the well-being of the people.
In saying this, the minister made specific reference to the SMEs which he said constituted the largest contributor to the nation’s workforce
PETALING JAYA: The Government of Malaysia (GoM) has allowed nine sectors previously prohibited from conducting business under the Movement Control Order (MCO) to resume operations.
These include the aerospace, automotive, machine, equipment sectors and a host of service based industries, including those providing hardware, electronic, electrical, barber, laundry and eyecare services.
The list (below), provided by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s (Miti), also included legal services and laboratory based testing for approved insutries.
According to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, those approved would only be allowed to operate under strict movement control and healthcare guidelines.
“A special cabinet committee jointly chaired by the International Trade and Industry Minister and Defence Minister has been established to look into the list of selected economic sectors that would be allowed to resume operation in stages.
“However, I would like to stress that allowing selected and limited sectors to operate does not mean that we are relaxing the MCO.
“All parties are required to comply with the directives from the authorities as long as the MCO is still being enforced,” he said in a special broadcast live telecast via mainstream channels and social media.
Meanwhile, senior minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the decision to allow these industries to operate was based on findings from studies that indicate that the spread of Covid-19 would also have detrimental effects on the economy and the well-being of the people.
