According to the report, the matter was shared by state Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in his opening remarks at the “Digital Penang PLC19 eCrowdSource: Hacking the Next Normal Roundtable” today.
Chow, who thanked medical the dedication of medical frontliners, was quoted as saying the state recorded a recovery rate of over 80 per cent, nearly twice that of the national figure.

According to the report, the matter was shared by state Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in his opening remarks at the “Digital Penang PLC19 eCrowdSource: Hacking the Next Normal Roundtable” today.
Chow, who thanked medical the dedication of medical frontliners, was quoted as saying the state recorded a recovery rate of over 80 per cent, nearly twice that of the national figure.
“With the joint efforts of all, which includes the federal, state and local governments, as well as the people of Penang, we have managed to do relatively well.
“Today, as stated by the Health director-general, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Penang, along with Kedah and Perlis, are heading towards becoming green zones. This is despite Penang being the target of vicious attacks and criticism during the first phase of the Movement Control Order (MCO),” Chow reportedly said.
The report further quotes Chow as saying that Covid-19 isn’t just impacting on the people’s health and lives, but the economy as well.
As such, he said the state government rolled out the “Penang Next Normal Strategy” to address the new situation.
“I believe that we will survive this so-called new normal. Nevertheless, as a state and as a country, we must not only survive, we must aim to thrive. We must empower the citizens of Penang and Malaysia to continue pursuing their aspirations in spite of the new challenges we may face.
“We acted early before the MCO, and now, before the MCO ends, we want to take early actions as well to ensure that Penang is ready when we re-open.”
