#TTFCovid19: The total number of new Covid-19 cases continued to register below the 100 mark, indicating that the Movement Control Order (MCO) is successful in breaking the chain of infections.
According to Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, 84 new cases were recorded today, bringing the total number of cases since late February to 5,389.
On the plus side, Hisham said the number of patients who fully recovered today surpassed the number of new cases.
He added that 95 cases have recovered from the disease and were discharged today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,197.

Hisham also noted that there was one death today.
“The 89th death involved a Malaysian man aged 51 who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart and kidney disease.
“He had a history of close contact with a positive Covid-19 case (Case 2,726). He was admitted to Enche’ Besar Hajjah Kalsom Hospital in Johor on April 13 and died on April 18 at 6.49pm,” he said.
According to reports, the victim was treated at the Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Johor.
