TTF: Najib’s victory proves UMNO still cherishes his leadership..
PEKAN: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak retained his Pekan Umno division chief post when he won unopposed.
Najib, who is also the Pekan member of parliament, has been the Pekan Umno division chief since 1982.
A straight fight for the deputy chief post between Datuk Seri Sh Mohamed Fuzi Sh Ali and former vice chief Datuk Seri Zamri Ramli saw the latter walking away as the winner. Former deputy chief Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Harun did not contest.
Pulau Manis assemblyman Datuk Khairuddin Mahmud beat Bebar assemblyman Datuk Fakhruddin Mohd Arif in the battle for the division vice-chief post.
The meeting at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah convention hall here today was attended by 1,015 delegates from 148 Umno branches in Pekan.
