On Monday, Mukhriz Mahathir’s lawyer sent Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak a legal letter asking the PM to apologise for saying that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is obsessed in trying to save his family legacy and in trying to make Mukhriz the Prime Minister. Mukhriz gave Najib until 1.00pm today, Wednesday, to issue that apology or else he is going to sue.
Did Mukhriz not contest the Umno Youth leadership and lost to Khairy Jamaluddin and then contested one of the Umno Vice Presidencies and also lost? Why would one want to contest these positions of high office unless one aspires to eventually become the number one in the party and eventually win the Prime Minister’s job that comes with that position?
No one contests a party position for nothing unless it is to climb the political ladder. And in spite of all these failures and what can interpreted as a rejection by the Umno members Najib still made him the Kedah Menteri Besar. So what is it that Mukhriz is so upset about that he wants to sue the PM? Is he embarrassed about wanting to become the Prime Minister (since he did contest the party posts more than once) or embarrassed that he failed to win each time he contested? And why is he a leader of PPBM if not in the hope of winning the general election and the high office that comes with it?
