TAIPAN, USJ: Business in the Taipan Business Triangle in USJ, Selangor has been badly affected by a sudden water disruption since yesterday, with three restaurant operators thus far closing shop due to sanitary concerns.

Elsewhere, the New Straits Times Online quoted a resident in USJ12 as saying there was no prior notice on the water disruption by Air Selangor which halted operations at the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant over odour pollution concerns yesterday.

“One morning, everything is fine. The next morning, we are faced with no water. In most cases, we are not given warning in advance,” said one operator.

Another said he was forced to close shop for the day as his business focused mainly on soup based dishes served in large bowls.

“We have a lot of customers, and it is inconvenient to serve (piping) hot soup in paper bowls. Toilets are also dirty due to water shortage.

“If we close shop, it affects us as some customers coming from outside USJ do not know about the water disruption.

“But if we open as usual, we get complaints. This is really bad for our business,” he said.
