Zahid has what Muhyiddin wants…

“How will Muhyiddin get Zahid to step down? Annuar’s attacks are certainly not working, and Muhyiddin is fast losing time. Could it be that Zahid is entering a deal with Muhyiddin to play Najib and Anwar out while delivering UMNO to PPBM in return for his ‘freedom’?”

Tan Sri Annuar Musa was the first UMNO leader to hint of a possible alliance betweeh UMNO and the DAP following Barisan Nasional’s defeat during the 14th general election.

In August 2018, Annuar made it absolutely clear that UMNO was open to working with any party, even the DAP.

But today, he is calling the DAP a socialist party and is attacking UMNO’s leadership for colluding with its leaders.

Utter hypocrisy, correct?

It is this hypocrisy that is pissing off a vast majority within the party’s rungs. Still, Annuar’s insistence that UMNO supreme council members met with leaders from the DAP is a fact, per se.

I for one can assure you that Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak did hold discussions with a representative from the DAP.

Following discussions, Zahid announced that UMNO was considering an alliance with the DAP, a fact Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming himself confirmed by taking a similar stand.

Anyway, Annuar insists that the DAP recognises Communism and worships Communist Party of Malaya’s leaders as heroes, forgetting that several UMNO and MCA leaders have cordial relationships with Beijing’s Chinese Communist Party, including Najib.

Truth is, Annuar is allied with Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and is merely spraying venom on Zahid, hoping to get him out of the picture so as to pave the way for PPBM to merge with UMNO.

Zahid and Najib, on the other hand, are allied with Datuk Seri Annuar Ibrahim and are hoping that UMNO Members of Parliament will agree to a working relationship with the DAP, PKR and AMANAH should Anwar succeed in getting the numbers.

But Anwar does not have the numbers.

Despite his repeated attempts to collect documents of support, the PKR president has yet to surpass the 91 mark, 91 being the total number of MPs in Pakatan Harapan.

Zahid and Najib, on the other hand, are not in control of UMNO.

Zahid’s support base has less than nine Members of Parliament and a mere 15 – 20 per cent of the party’s divisions and branches.

But Annuar’s base is far worse. The last I checked, only one Member of Parliament and three division leaders supported him.

One option is for Annuar and Muhyiddin to team up with Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who is said to command the same majority Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah now commands, i.e., 25 MPs.

For the plan to work, Hishammuddin must agree to challenge Zahid during the upcoming party elections.

But the stakes are too high, as the majority in UMNO is opposed to Annuar and Muhyiddin and may actually support Zahid just to foil their plans.

This explains why nothing is certain when it comes to Hishammuddin and his 25 MPs.

Why else do you think Muhyiddin wants UMNO elections deferred? Could this be the real reason for the Movement Control Order? To defer party elections?

I’m not certain, but Muhyiddin sure as hell wants polls deferred until such a time that Zahid voluntarily steps down and supports merger, following which Muhyiddin himself will sit as “UMNO-BERSATU” president (or BERSATU-UMNO or UMNO 3,0).

But Muhyiddin cannot wait forever and must make the plan work by May. The sooner it happens, the earlier the 15th general election.

Question is, how will Muhyiddin get Zahid to step down? Annuar’s attacks are certainly not working, and Muhyiddin is fast losing time.

Could it be that Zahid is entering a deal with Muhyiddin to play Najib and Anwar out while delivering UMNO to PPBM in return for his ‘freedom’?
