Former Parti Warisan (Warisan) vice president Datuk Peter Anthony today revealed the name of the local-based party he will be helming after he quit Warisan in December last year.
Speaking to reporters at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, he said the party is called Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) and will be fully-Sabahan based.
Peter’s announcement today answered any and all questions as to his political direction after quitting Warisan.
“The registration of KDM also puts detractors in their place, as they have claimed we would not be able to get the party approved (by RoS) and registered,” he said.

He added the party received its official registration from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) on Feb 18.
“We will be launching the party on March 13 in Kota Kinabalu and will be announcing the names of the party’s leadership then,” he said.

Peter added KDM will be applying to join Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) as it wants to play a part in the state’s development.
The Melalap assemblyman pointed out that cooperation at the state level is very important in order to resolve development issues.
“For us, a small party, we too want to assist and contribute to the state’s development so we will apply to join GRS so we can work together with the component parties like PBS and STAR, among others.”
He said there was no point in having a political party but not contributing to the state and its development.
“What is important is the cooperation, as we can exchange and contribute ideas. We can also contribute input from the grassroots on how we can assist the government,” he said.
According to Peter, KDM is a multiracial party and its membership will only be opened to Sabahans.
“We are of the opinion that it is better to focus on the problems in Sabah.
“What we want for Sabah is a strong coalition to administer the state, similar to Sarawak and Penang,” he said.
It was learnt that Limbahau assemblyman Datuk Juil Nuatim will be the party’s protem deputy president and its protem secretary general will be Dr Gaim @ James Lunkapis.
