The Kedah state government is slated to change today.
According to a report, an announcement on the matter is expected to be made at 3 pm with the new government falling under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) pact.
The report claimed that PKR assemblymen Azman Nasrudin (Lunas) and Dr Robert Ling Kui Ee (Sidam) are scheduled to hold a press conference at the Sidam state assembly (DUN) office in Alor Star, Kedah.
Pas and Umno state leaders are thereafter expected to announce the formation of a new state government via a press conferenced.
On the 6th of May 2020, Alor Mengkudu assemblyman Haji Ahmad bin Yahaya announced PAS and UMNO’s readiness to take over the reins of government in Kedah.

The report further quotes unnamed sources as saying the assemblymen will announce their opposing stand on the current state government under Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.

According to him, the Pakatan Harapan leadership in the state was fraught with problems due to the split in Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
Ahmad said the split led to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir being a weak leader as the majority of PPBM Kedah was not aligned with him.
The current Kedah DUN composition is Pas (15 seats), PKR (7 seats), Bersatu (6 seats), Parti Amanah Negara (4 seats), DAP (2 seats) and Umno (2 seats).
