PKR deputy president Dato’ Ser Azmin Ali for the first time openly displayed his control over the party by leading two thirds of its elected central committee to object the sacking of Bera division chief Zakaria Abdul Hamid.
In what amounts to a show of force, Azmin’s group, which included vice presidents Zuraida Kamaruddin and Chua Tian Chang or Tian Chua, demanded that PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim apologise over Zakaria’s sacking as it was not formally endorsed by two thirds of the committee.
On Thursday,Muhamad Mizan Adli Mohd Nor and Mohd Ramly Ahmad were both relieved from their respective positions as permanent chairman and deputy chairman of the youth wing for reasons that made no sense.
In a letter dated Nov 27, PKR youth national secretary Ahmad Syukri Che Ab Razak listed several reasons for the dismissal, among them being the age of eligibility for the posts which Muhammad and Ramly are said to have exceeded.
PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy president Dato’ Ser Azmin Ali for the first time openly displayed his control over the party by leading two thirds of its elected central committee to object the sacking of Zakaria Abdul Hamid.
Zakaria serves as Bera division chief and was formerly the political secretary to Sarawak PKR Chief Baru Bian while serving the Ministry of Works.
A news portal quoted the groups saying:
“To this day, Zakaria Abdul Hamid remains a valid member of the central committee.
“As such, his expulsion without a stated reason is irrelevant as is need to appeal this.
They stressed that their numbers meant they represented the majority of the central committee and, by extension, PKR members.
On Thursday, TTF wrote:
Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is getting very desperate seeing that his support in PKR is waning and has resorted to a dictatorial approach to seize complete control of the party.
Earlier today, Muhamad Mizan Adli Mohd Nor and Mohd Ramly Ahmad were both relieved from their respective positions as permanent chairman and deputy chairman of the youth wing for reasons that made no sense.
In a letter dated Nov 27, PKR youth national secretary Ahmad Syukri Che Ab Razak listed several reasons for the dismissal, among them being the age of eligibility for the posts which Muhammad and Ramly are said to have exceeded.
Expressing shock, Muhamad questioned the timing of the move as it comes days ahead of the party’s youth national congress which itself is shrouded in controversy.
Muhamad and Ramly are known to be aligned with PKR deputy president Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali along with the wing’s deputy chief, Muhammad Hilman Idham.
Azmin’s show of force is consistent with TTF’s claim that not only has Anwar lost control of PKR central, the majority of state leaders nationwide are rooting for Azmin and are determined to see him lead the party.
