Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed yesterday that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin no longer comands majority support in parliament.

In a statement, Zahid said Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament were free to support PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and confessed that many Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) Members of Parliament (MPs) have stated their support for Anwar to form a new government.

This is viewed to be a tacit confession on Zahid’s part that Muhyiddin has lost control of government and shouldn’t be Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, TTF has established that no Member of Parliament from Sabah, Sarawak, PAS or PPBM has expressed any form of support for Anwar.

As for the DAP and AMANAH, they’re well aware that Anwar does not have the numbers and are dead against any form of collaboration with UMNO.

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed yesterday that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin no longer comands majority support in parliament.

TTF is made to understand that the support for Anwar comes mainly from UMNO’s Team A, led by former premier Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and supported by Zahid.

The group, itself a minority faction within UMNO, also has Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri and Datuk Seri Annuar Musa on board.

Annuar is also said to be in camp Muhyiddin and plays both ends against the middle, including with members of the Hishammuddin-led Team B.

The total number of parliamentarians from Team A and B supporting Anwar number less than 12 and includes Najib.

On Monday, TTF exposed (below) how Najib had reached an understanding of sorts with Anwar on a proposed collaboration between Barisan Nasional and PKR in Sabah and at national level following the soon-to-be-held Sabah election.

According to the understanding, Najib will grant Anwar the pleasure of deciding who to nominate as Prime Minister should PKR and Barisan Nasional succeed in forming federal government following the 15th General Election.

Anwar threw a bolt from the blue yesterday by claiming he had majority support ranging near the two thirds mark.

However, this is not possible as not only are Sabah, Sarawak, PAS and Team B against him, Mahathir has already gained a majority together with another statesman but has yet to make a move.

Anwar’s ‘maneuvre’ was really a “Zahid-Najib” maneuvre meant to shock Members of Parliament into thinking Anwar had numbers on his side.

The move was a last ditch attempt by the trio to solicit support for Anwar before the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong is discharged from Institut Jantung Negara (IJN).
